Overview:
A leading Tier 1 global investment bank is seeking several Risk & Control Specialists to join their team in London. This is a critical role designed to enhance and support the bank’s risk management framework within the Front Office Capital Markets environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of risk and control mechanisms within capital markets, with specific experience in controls testing and implementation.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Management Framework: Strengthen the risk management framework by developing, maintaining, and enhancing control processes within the Front Office Capital Markets business.
  • Control Testing & Monitoring: Perform regular and thorough controls testing, validation, and ongoing monitoring to ensure that all risk and control measures are effectively implemented and adhered to.
  • Implementation of Controls: Lead the implementation of new risk controls and ensure proper embedding of control frameworks across various business lines within the Capital Markets division.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Front Office traders, compliance, operations, and other risk teams to understand business processes and ensure risk controls are in place.
  • Risk Identification & Mitigation: Identify emerging risks and control gaps within the Front Office Capital Markets. Provide recommendations for control enhancements to mitigate those risks effectively.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure that all risk and control frameworks align with internal policies and meet the necessary regulatory requirements.
  • Reporting & Escalation: Prepare comprehensive risk and control reports for senior management, highlighting control deficiencies, key risks, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in risk and control processes by proactively identifying opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Front Office Capital Markets Experience: Proven experience in working directly within or alongside Front Office Capital Markets teams, with a deep understanding of the products, processes, and associated risks.
  • Controls Testing & Implementation: Strong track record of controls testing, implementation, and validation within a financial institution.
  • Risk Management Expertise: In-depth knowledge of risk management principles, control frameworks, and regulatory requirements within the financial services industry.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex processes and identify potential risks and control weaknesses.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with senior stakeholders, traders, and other business areas.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., Basel III, MiFID II) and how they impact Front Office operations in Capital Markets.
  • Problem Solving & Attention to Detail: Strong problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail, ensuring thoroughness in risk analysis and control processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, risk management, or a related field.
  • Professional qualifications (e.g., CFA, FRM, PRM) are highly advantageous.
