Company Overview: Our client is a growing Fintech startup on the cusp of our Series A fundraising. They are a dynamic, fast-paced organization looking for a skilled and strategic Finance Director to join our team on a fractional basis.
Role Overview: Our clients are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Fractional Finance Director (FD) to support their company as they prepare for and execute their Series A fundraising. This role will be critical in ensuring the financial health and strategic direction of the company during this pivotal phase of growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, experience with startups, and a track record of successful fundraising.
Key Responsibilities:
- Series A Fundraising:
- Lead financial preparations for our Series A round, including creating detailed financial models and projections.
- Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute the fundraising strategy.
- Manage relationships with investors, prepare pitch decks, and participate in investor meetings.
- Ensure all financial documentation is investor-ready and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Budgeting and Financial Planning:
- Develop, implement, and manage the company’s budgeting process.
- Provide regular financial forecasts and updates to the executive team.
- Analyze financial performance and make strategic recommendations to improve profitability and growth.
- Invoicing and Financial Operations:
- Oversee the invoicing process to ensure timely and accurate billing.
- Implement and optimize financial systems and processes to improve efficiency.
- Monitor cash flow and manage working capital to support business operations.
- Strategic Financial Duties:
- Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and leadership team on financial matters.
- Evaluate potential risks and opportunities, providing actionable insights to guide decision-making.
- Support long-term strategic planning, including mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and other growth initiatives.
- Reporting and Compliance:
- Prepare and present financial reports to the board, investors, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting standards.
- Liaise with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
- Proven experience as a Finance Director, CFO, or similar role in a startup environment.
- Extensive experience with fundraising, particularly in Series A or early-stage rounds.
- Strong financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
- Proficient in financial software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel, financial CRMs).
- Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
