About Us:

We are a sophisticated, private family office based in London, responsible for the management and preservation of significant multi-generational wealth. Our investments span a broad range of asset classes, including public and private equity, real estate, venture capital, alternatives, and impact investments. We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and highly strategic Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead and manage the family's global investment portfolio and drive long-term value creation aligned with the family's vision and values.

Role Overview:

The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) will assume full responsibility for the oversight, strategic direction, and performance of the family's diversified investment portfolio. The CIO will work closely with the principals and the broader family office team to define investment policies, identify new opportunities, mitigate risks, and ensure sustained, risk-adjusted returns over the long term.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investment Strategy & Asset Allocation: Develop and implement a strategic asset allocation plan aligned with the family's objectives, risk appetite, liquidity needs, and time horizon.

  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the management of a multi-asset-class portfolio across traditional and alternative investments, ensuring optimal diversification and performance.

  • Investment Sourcing: Identify, assess, and execute new investment opportunities across public markets, private equity, venture capital, real estate, infrastructure, and impact sectors.

  • Manager Selection: Lead the selection, evaluation, and monitoring of external fund managers, co-investment opportunities, and direct investments.

  • Research & Due Diligence: Conduct deep market analysis, macroeconomic research, thematic investing, and thorough due diligence on all prospective investments.

  • Performance Monitoring: Establish KPIs and reporting systems to monitor portfolio performance, risk exposures, and benchmark comparisons.

  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage investment risks across the portfolio, including currency, geographic, sectoral, and liquidity risks.

  • Governance & Reporting: Provide regular, clear, and insightful reports and presentations to the family principals and relevant committees.

  • Team Leadership: Build and manage a high-calibre internal investment team (if required) and collaborate with external advisors and consultants.

  • ESG & Impact: Integrate ESG considerations and impact investment principles into portfolio construction where aligned with family priorities.

Qualifications

Key Requirements:

  • Strong academic background; Bachelor's degree required, Master's/MBA or CFA designation strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant investment management experience, preferably including experience within a family office, endowment, foundation, sovereign wealth fund, or top-tier investment institution.

  • Demonstrable track record of superior investment performance across multiple asset classes.

  • Deep understanding of global markets, macroeconomics, and alternative investments.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance risk management and opportunistic investing.

  • Highly analytical with outstanding quantitative and qualitative assessment skills.

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.

  • Experience working directly with UHNW families, boards, or investment committees.

  • High levels of discretion, integrity, and professionalism.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Prior experience within a multi-generational family office environment.

  • Exposure to impact investing, sustainable finance, or thematic investment strategies.

  • Multilingual capabilities are advantageous but not required.

  • Global perspective with strong international networks across investment markets.
