Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to oversee the company’s risk management framework, ensuring the identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring of key risks across all areas of the business. Key Responsibilities:
- Risk Management Strategy & Framework:
- Develop and implement an enterprise-wide risk management (ERM) strategy that aligns with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework, including risk identification, risk appetite, mitigation strategies, and monitoring processes.
- Ensure that the company’s risk management practices are aligned with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
- Risk Identification & Assessment:
- Lead the process of identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing the company’s key risks, including operational, financial, strategic, compliance, and reputational risks.
- Work closely with departmental leaders to assess risks related to their functions and develop tailored risk mitigation plans.
- Continuously monitor the external environment for emerging risks, regulatory changes, and potential threats to the business.
- Risk Appetite & Tolerance:
- Collaborate with the executive leadership team and board of directors to define the company’s risk appetite and tolerance levels.
- Ensure that risk-taking activities are within the approved risk limits and support the company’s strategic and financial objectives.
- Provide guidance on risk-based decision-making, ensuring that risks are properly understood and managed at all levels of the organization.
- Risk Mitigation & Controls:
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and internal controls to minimize exposure to identified risks.
- Oversee the implementation of risk management policies and procedures across the organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Ensure the effectiveness of risk controls through regular testing, audits, and reviews.
- Reporting & Communication:
- Provide regular reports to the board of directors, executive management, and relevant stakeholders on key risk exposures, mitigation actions, and risk management performance.
- Lead risk committees, including cross-functional teams, to discuss emerging risks and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure that all employees are aware of the company’s risk management policies and understand their role in managing risk.
- Regulatory Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure the company complies with relevant regulations and industry standards, including financial, operational, and cybersecurity regulations.
- Lead regulatory risk assessments and support the company’s engagement with regulatory bodies, auditors, and external consultants.
- Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams to ensure that risk management practices align with governance and ethical standards.
- Business Continuity & Crisis Management:
- Develop and oversee the company’s business continuity and crisis management plans to ensure the organization can respond effectively to unforeseen events.
- Ensure that contingency plans are in place for critical operations and that disaster recovery strategies are regularly updated and tested.
- Leadership & Risk Culture:
- Foster a culture of risk awareness and accountability across the organization, ensuring that risk management is embedded in decision-making processes.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing risk management team.
- Ensure that the risk management function has the resources, tools, and expertise necessary to perform effectively.
- Data-Driven Risk Analytics:
- Utilize risk analytics and data modeling to quantify risk exposures and improve decision-making.
- Leverage technology to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of risk monitoring, reporting, and management processes.
- Drive continuous improvement in risk management processes through the adoption of new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
Key Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a senior risk management role, such as Chief Risk Officer, Head of Risk, or similar.
- Extensive knowledge of risk management frameworks, methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, including the board of directors and regulatory bodies.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
- Professional certifications such as Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), or Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA) are highly desirable.
