Our clients are seeking a skilled and experienced Pensions Actuary Consultant to join their dynamic and fast-growing team at a leading accountancy practice. This is a remote position with occasional travel to London for client meetings and team collaborations.
As a Pensions Actuary Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in providing actuarial and consulting services to our clients across various industries. You will be responsible for advising on pension schemes, managing client relationships, and delivering expert insights into actuarial valuations, risk management, and long-term financial planning for pensions.
- Actuarial Valuations: Conduct and oversee actuarial valuations for defined benefit pension schemes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
- Consulting & Advisory: Provide expert advice on scheme funding, risk management, de-risking strategies, and pension scheme design, ensuring clients are well-informed and able to make strategic decisions.
- Client Management: Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the main point of contact for pension-related queries, and providing tailored solutions to meet their needs.
- Compliance & Regulations: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry regulations, legislation, and best practices to ensure clients remain compliant and well-positioned in a changing regulatory environment.
- Pension Scheme Strategy: Assist clients with long-term pension strategy, including closure or merger of schemes, buy-ins, buy-outs, and risk transfer solutions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments within the firm (e.g., audit, tax, corporate finance) to provide holistic services to clients, and contribute to cross-departmental projects.
- Reporting: Prepare clear and concise actuarial reports, presenting complex actuarial concepts in a way that is easily understood by clients.
- Project Management: Lead and manage multiple client projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work within agreed budgets.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Actuary (FIA/FFA) with experience in pensions consulting.
- Proven track record in working with UK defined benefit (DB) pension schemes.
- Strong understanding of pension regulations, actuarial techniques, and funding strategies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain technical information to non-actuarial stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to deliver innovative and tailored client solutions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
- Proficiency in relevant actuarial software and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Willingness to attend occasional meetings in London as required.
- Experience in advising on pension scheme de-risking strategies (buy-ins, buy-outs, and longevity swaps).
- Knowledge of accounting standards such as IAS19 and FRS102.
- Familiarity with trustee and corporate pensions advice.
- Prior experience in a consulting environment, preferably within a large accountancy practice.
